That's encouraging. Hopefully I can get mine corrected once it gets hot around here again so the dealership can see the issue first hand. The Ford rep on this forum put in my information and I received a phone call from Ford this morning. They informed me that they can not help with anything unless my truck is currently in the shop, and the shop doesn't want it unless they can recreate the issue. So I'm still left here hoping it acts up again before I am out of warranty. Fun stuff.

question, if the fault appears.... does it only appear once... never to return...even if the problem still exists... or do those codes come up a lot...like every time you start the truck, etc?

Mine only happens when it's hot outside. The alert will keep coming back about every 3-5 minutes until the interior of the cab cools down. Then it stays away for the remainder of the drive.

Mine occurred when the sun hit the camera and the ding/alert would continue every 30sec-1m. By the time they fixed mine I had 200+alerts on my phone.

My wife took the truck on a trip and the alert triggered while they were driving and every 1min dinged for 3 hours.

My truck is now in the shop getting this issue addressed. It got hot early this spring and the intermittent "pre-collision assist not available" message finally became permanent. Hopefully I will get my truck back next week and I will be sure to update this thread with what the dealership did to address the issue.

It took three months for them to get a new camera in for me. That's after 3 visits for them to diagnose the issue. It took me telling them multiple times just park it in the sun.

Hopefully they can get you a new camera pretty quick but I doubt it.

Well you might be correct (although I hope not!).

I got a call from the dealership yesterday saying that after 3 days with my truck they can’t figure out what the issue is. They have a call in for a specialist from Ford, but do not expect to get an answer until Monday or Tuesday.

Meanwhile, I’ll likely have to rent a vehicle since they can’t or won’t give me a loaner. My first F150 ownership experience is not so grand right now.

Tell them to park it outside facing the sun for an hour or two. If it's the same issue I had its the front camera, the one in the windshiel and sitting in the sun will trigger it.

Luckily the fault has stayed on since early this spring. There’s no way they can’t see it now. Just have to await for news from the experts.

Well I picked my truck up today. The dealership had it for about 2.5 weeks. They identified TSB 22-2109 that fit the errors my truck was showing. Apparently they had a really difficult time getting the update to install correctly and had to enlist the help of Ford engineers. Once the update took, they calibrated all the cameras and the error code has stayed away. They kept it for 2 days after it was complete to drive it and ensure the error did not come back.

Now I just need to wait for another hot sunny day to see if the little gremlin is gone for good or just on vacation.

BTW, the best way to get a loaner vehicle from the dealership is to call corporate. The dealership went from "we have no loaners", to "we put you on the loaner list, but no idea how long it will be", to "we have a loaner ready for you" within 2 days after contacting Ford corporate.

@smartin2232

Mine is in the shop right and apparently Ford (i have case open too) is using mine as a guinea pig because they don't know what is causing it.

They replaced the control module but that didn't fix it. Ford is having them run a bunch of test and a whole slew of different errors keep popping up.

One thing I told the dealership which has helped them is if the truck sits in the sun the error will come on 100% of the time so they can easily replicate it when Ford wants them to run another test.

Sounds like the next step is replacing the camera but that still doesn't answer all the other errors they are seeing when running the test.

I will keep you posted if they fix it.

My truck spent weeks in the shop, they replaced the module 2 times. Tried to blame my after market refer and cabin temps. MIne will stay off in the am and on in the afternoon after it heats up. The unit gets physically hot to the touch. It can't be an electrical short because the unit works fine when it is cool. I tried removing the unit from the harness and left the windows open and let it hang down, but the unit still got hot. It may have something to do with the wiring in the windshield getting hot . When driving I turn the A/C on with the defrost vent on and the unit will cool down and start working.

Just curious, did the TSP fix your issue. Mine has started the same thing over the last week or two and is getting progressively worse. Thanks.

Yes it did. I have only had the error once since, and it was very clearly due to glare.
