lol 2 years in Colorado with no chips, which is a feat. Chrysler has the worst glass of any mfg ever. Its so bad they offer the glass it should come with as an expensive option.

I can confirm this. I leased a Wrangler JLU in winter. The first week I had it, I remote started it with ice on the windshield and defroster left on. A crack started right over one of the vents about four inches above the dash and ran all the way from A pillar to A pillar within ten minutes. It also had an interesting stereo system that worked only when it wanted to. Biggest POS I've ever driven. I was fortunate that the used market went bonkers shortly after. I offered it to Carvana and they bought out the $0 down lease and wrote me a check for $4K. That took some of the annoyance away.

Years ago they went to much thinner glass for all the windows. I read an article that said they did it to reduce weight and help meet EPA CAFE standards. I can't remember the numbers they stated but the weight saved was crazy, 200 or 300 pounds depending on the vehicle.

People that tailgate have a tendency to go through more windshields.

3-years and original glass. So far so good, which is a miracle for the number of miles I drive.

3 years, $45k miles, original window with a rock chip that was repaired. Just a few weeks ago, a tree limb fell on my truck, chipped the window and now it's getting replaced with an original Ford window. I do have tint on the entire front window.

I'm at 2 years and 20kmiles on my F150. I recently got a 1/4" chip that I had the dealer "repair" at the last oil change. Two weeks later it developed into a 3' long crack.
On other hand our Jeep Grande Cherokee is 13 years old 120k miles and still on the original windshield with a half dozen repaired chips. Coincidentally I just took the Jeep it into one of those mall parking lot repairers. He told me that he has seen many more F150s with cracked windshields than any other truck.

I have a theory that a lifted truck, gets less windshield dings. I'm certain that this is true going from say a low car to a FS truck.

Is it possible that buying fewer windshields could offset the mpg decrease of lifting your truck a bit?

Whew boy. The Carolina squat culture may just be the one car culture lower than the Honda/Acura/JDM fart can exhaust culture of 25 years ago.

Within the last three years I've bought three windshields:

1. 2014 Chevrolet High Country
2. 2020 Ram 3500 Dually Big Horn
3. 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Fortunately none for my F150 yet......

2 years, original glass. This may be a function of your driving habits/behaviors. If you're on the highway, stay away following anything bigger than a minivan ESPECIALLY anything getting onto the highway. Watch big rigs and if they don't have debris deflectors don't hang around them too much. pass quickly and stay ahead of them or hang back.
